About Us

Phoenix Book Company is owned and operated by husband and wife team Jade Corn and Cori Ashley.  Their combined industry experience, energy, commitment and love of books makes Phoenix Book Company great.

Jade has been in the book industry since 1992.  After graduating from Arizona State University he took a job at a retail bookstore and discovered that he could be paid for sharing the love of literature he developed as an English major.  He soon left his first bookstore job to join the team at Bookman’s and worked with them for 5 years, doing every job in the store. It was here that he started working with educators to fill class sets, supply library copies, and fill school orders.

When it was time for a change, Jade moved to another independent bookstore in Phoenix and continued to develop his model of direct-to-schools sales.  He successfully matched his extensive knowledge of the publishing and remainder industries with his excellent salesmanship skills to grow his fledgling educational business.

In 2000, Jade joined Changing Hands Bookstore and in a 5 year partnership with them, further grew the educational business into a 350,000 book inventory in a 5,000 square foot warehouse.  He also developed a national business, supplying high quality new books to Reading is Fundamental programs. Not one to rest on the past, Jade continued to grow the local and regional business, becoming a primary supplier for a number of K-12 educational institutions.  During this time, he also completed 3 bachelor’s degrees at ASU in Classical Studies, History and German.

Cori’s background includes a degree in English Literature from ASU, as well as years of professional service at ASU. In recent years she enjoyed being a human resources trainer, which enabled her to provide adults with professional development opportunities and facilitate other’s career growth.  The opportunity to partner with Jade on their own venture was enough to lure her away from training into entrepreneurship, however, and she has embraced the experience wholeheartedly.

In 2005 the time came to strike out on his own, and Jade & Cori decided to purchase the inventory from Changing Hands and go into business for themselves as Phoenix Book Company.  Since then they have added over 150,000 books in all areas to their inventory, as well as offering newly published books suitable for the K-12 market from the major publishing houses at significant savings.  They have continued to grow the scope of the business by partnering with 2 publishing houses outside the US to import books in world languages to meet the growing cross-cultural needs in America’s schools today.

About Our Books

The Phoenix Book Company sells both new books and remainders & publishers’ overstocks.  Although all of our books are in excellent condition, you will find some books have a remainder mark. This mark is typically a line or sticker across the bar code or a small dot or mark on the bottom of the book placed there by the publisher to identify the book as a remainder. 

Our inventory changes constantly. While we make every attempt to keep our website up to date on books we currently have in stock; however due to large orders, we may occasionally be unable to fill an order. In that case, you will be notified and your credit card will refunded the cost of the book and its appropriate shipping amount.
